Requirements
for Certification of Nativelike Language Proficiency
As a service to its affiliates, the CDLC will
issue Certification of Nativelike Language Proficiency to
affiliate students who meet the requirements listed below.
This Certificate may be in addition to any diplomas, degrees,
or Distinguished/Advanced Professional Language Proficiency
Certificates awarded within the institution (see, for example,
the proposed Certificate program of the Center for the Advancement
of Distinguished Language Proficiency at San Diego State University)
and serves as objective, tested evidence of the attainment
of near-native language competence and performance.
- Tested Level 4 proficiency in reading,
writing, speaking, and aural comprehension of one
or more foreign/heritage languages by a certified
examiner or tester contracted by the CDLC.
- Completion of a foreign degree in
any field of study.
- Successful participation in at least
one CDLC symposium/conference.
- An internship or professional job
in which high-level language proficiency was/is used;
internships can be arranged through the Washington
Branch.
- Satisfaction of all graduation requirements,
including coursework, established by the affiliated
institution; attestation from the institution must
be available.
